Next-Gen only. Have some Alpha Footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOISIeGvjkc I'm going to eat my words. The Frenchies actually went ahead and humbled themselves into making a game about the French Revolution. A very complicated setting, so I look forward to seeing who is aligned with who. |

Yeah it really is quite disappointing. On two parts. The pirating and new additions are what the franchise needed in order to rejuvenate itself. And now all of that is gone. Feels like a step backwards. The other is ubishit is once again trying to force out another game every year, just for the sake of doing so rather than time time and actually develop them. They've become as bad as DICE and whoever make Modern Warefare and CoD games. |

There's been a game every year since Brotherhood, for better or for worse. I don't mind losing the piracy and ship stuff as long as there are efficient things to replace it with. As you said, Ubisoft doesn't take the time to develop these games so the core gameplay is barely updated from game to game and additions like piracy are necessary. It's just a matter of if they have something to replace it with or not. I honestly wish another company with more dedication would come in and make a high quality assassin game. We haven't had a breakthrough stealth assassin game in a long time. |

We could honestly have something else than the Piracy, though. Not that I'm saying it would be a good change, but a ton of shit was happening in that time period in Europe. If we just stick to France, they engaged in several wars with Austria, Prussia, and whatever allies they had at the time. Like Spain. To the point that France was defending itself on all sides. This went on for roughly 2 years (1792-1794), where France actually won and made everyone sign enough treaties to make that shit stop by 1975... ...and in the meantime, in 1793, King Louie was put to death, and the reign of terror was in full swing with "rebels" being executed right and left. Same with the actual revolution as well. (Info is taken from a rough look over Wiki) While we might lose piracy (although there may still be some naval battles), we could easily have a ton of side-missions with more than a fair amount of variety about protecting France from invaders, and also taking a side in the revolution. I'm certain the Templars would be the ones in power, because generic evil Templars tend to be generically evil. Besides, slinking along European Castles and fortresses? That actually sounds fun. Oh, I'm not saying it wouldn't be fun to do that, I just mean I really LIKED Black Flag since the Piracy set it apart from every other Assassins Creed game. |

Ubisoft is considering starting another pirate series since people love it so much. Using the pirate stuff again, in my opinion, would just be lazy. No two Assassin's Creed games should rely on the same gimmicks. But a pirate series on its own? That I would purchase. As for the story, it's probably going to wholly surround the French Revolution which i'm happy with. I'm always willing to assassinate people in one of the absolute dumbest eras in history. What makes it such a fun era is that both the monarchy and the revolutionaries were raving idiots in their own unique ways. According to AC2's puzzles, Napoleon had an Apple of Eden and the Templars started the revolution. And if you have a thing for real life conspiracy theories, as the theory goes, the Illuminati did the same and used all of the events to put Napoleon in power, but eventually he become too concerned with his own interests and considered the empire to be his and not the Illuminati's, so it's possible they'll go in that direction. However, the scenario of Templars running the revolution (though I do hope very much that it is) is not set in stone since AC2's puzzles are not an automatic indicator as to what to base future games on. For example, an AC2 puzzle showed George Washington had an Apple of Eden, but in AC3's DLC after seeing how dangerous it is he tells Connor to take it and throw it at the bottom of the ocean where no one can find it. Oh, indeed. I've not even played past Brotherhood yet, but I can see where adding in the Piracy made a massive change to the gameplay and really was a refreshing change. Hell, I'm tempted to leap ahead and get Black Flag instead of finishing off the Ezio Trilogy, just because of Pirates. EDIT Err, that was to Fieryone. And yeah, another era of history to toy around in, one with a ton of chaos going on, should be fun. Edited by NewtypeS3, Mar 22 2014, 09:12 AM.

It is Assassin's Creed. I'm buying it. I encourage anyone to play all the Ezio games before going on to 4. 3 is skippable. |

I'm close to beating AC3... so I need to go back and beat it. Same for Brotherhood and Revelations since I have them, but never beat them. Though I'm quite Sure Unity will come up with something (hopefully) to make me want to play it. Though I will say AC4 is the one to make want to actually try and 100% it, and I'm not usually the person to do that, but the Sea exploration and Fortress battles are awesome. |

I'm mostly caught up on the series, I just need to put some proper time into AC: Liberation. At least this way, the piracy/boat stuff stands out even since it hasn't been overplayed, right? ...right? Regarding AC: Unity, I'm highly interested since I'm a fan of the franchise- but I want to know what will make it stand out in the same way Black Flag did. The early leak put a damper on Ubi's plans to properly introduce the game so they rushed the reveal, so all that's here is a tech demo and the reveal of the setting. I wonder what else they've got planned? |

Maybe multiple main characters, one for each side of the so-called conflict? Either that, or we could have the ability to disguise ourselves as French Dandies. Game of the Year, right there. |

I'll probably be the only one here with this sentiment, but I absolutely HATED the ship mechanics in its entirety. After all, Assassins Creed is mainly about assassinating people and as its progressed, it has been less and less about shanking guys and more about almost everything else. |

I do agree with you on the Shanking bits, there really wasn't much of me going around and killing Historical folks in Black Flag... but again, I hella enjoyed being a MOTHERFUCKING PIRATE and I enjoyed how the ship worked. It's supposed to be a co-op campaign. I really hope that local is an option here. I don't like coordinating in a game like this with others online. |

It's always been amusing about the series. Their actual gameplay animations, interactions, and so on have always looked good. But ironically their pre set and pre-rendered movements, especially from NPCs have always looked wonky and so fake. |

To be fair, the very nature of Assassins makes it where there's not too many other ways it could happen. You are right that Black Flag's was best, though I'm also sorta curious about Rogue's "screw you guys, I'm going |
